Justin Hicks

At least for now, anyway. While much of the focus was on the Woods/Mickelson/Adam Scott threesome, some other golfers decided to remind the free world there are some other golfers to pay attention to. Currently, the one everyone will be watching tomorrow is Justin Hicks, who, as of this writing, is sitting atop the US Open leaderboard at 3-under par.

He’s followed closely by Rocco Mediate, Stuart Appleby, Eric Axley and Kevin Streelman; all of which are at -2.

Of course, the talk of today was Tiger Woods and his surgerically repaired knee. For the day, Woods finished at +1 after committing not one but two double bogeys during his opening round. Naturally, speculation immediately went to problems with the knee but after looking at the cumulative scores, it’s apparent Torrey Pines is playing awfully tough right now.

As it stands, Woods is only four strokes off the lead. As for Mickelson, the lefty who’s not quite as hefty as before finished his round at even par and according to Jason Sobel, that’s the first time Phil has shot better than Tiger when the two are paired together. Hey, maybe Reilly was right after all.Similar Posts:
